For David Wolff, Gates Ranch is a project that comes from the heart. The owner and operator of a working cattle ranch in Washington County for over 30 years, he has an intimate knowledge of the area, a deep love for its scenic beauty and rich history and affection for its people. His passion for preservation is reflected in the Independence Preservation Trust, established to work with the residents of Independence, Texas, to preserve the town’s visual and cultural heritage.
Continuing a mission to protect the natural beauty and heritage of the region, he is combining his commitment to preservation with 40 years of real estate experience to create a unique community of lasting quality and value.
The thoughtful planning of Gates Ranch reflects an appreciation for nature, a respect for the past and a lasting commitment to the future. Previously over-grazed pastures have been replanted and nourished.
Spring-fed ponds mirror the landscape. Stately pecans, oaks and sycamores, trimmed and revitalized, provide shade and beauty to a landscape crossed by running creeks.
Over 1,000 new trees have already been planted, including a tree nursery where 400 live oaks are being grown. As a gift from Wolff Companies, each new owner will be presented with ten live oaks from the nursery.
Over 1,000 trees have been strategically planted to enhance the natural beauty of rolling hills, lakes and shaded creeks.
